after hearing the rumor that sae’s child’s first word was “dada”, rin couldn't help but want his twin daughters’ first word to be the same.
rin sat on the couch, his stoic facade as unyielding as ever ៸៸ yet the corners of his mouth twitched ever so slightly as he watched his twin daughters sprawled on the play mat. each girl had a thumb jammed in her mouth, cherubic faces glowing with mischief and wonder as they babibled away like they were conducting a secret meeting. you moved forward, heart fluttering with joy, longing for their first word to be 'mama.'
“come on ៸៸ girls. you know who’s waiting for you,” you breathed out dramatically, directing a teasing stare at rin.
he raised an eyebrow, feigning indifference. “they’ll let it out when they feel prepared. patience matters,” he stated, his voice steady, though you could catch a hint of humor peeking through his calm appearance.
“i understand patience is key, but this moment calls for our immediate focus…” you retorted, smiling.
just then, one of the twins acquired a small bus toy, her tiny fingers encasing it determinedly. she pushed it across the play mat ៸៸ making an exaggerated “vroom!” noise as though it were hurtling along a racetrack. her sister, not to be outdone, collected her barbie dolls and began putting them into the bus, arranging them as if they were gearing up for an expedition.
“what do you think they’re plotting?” you mused, playfully elbowing rin. “the merits of ‘mama’ versus ‘dada’ or perhaps planning a toy takeover?”
rin smirked slightly, still showing his unyielding calmness. “probably plotting world domination, knowing them.”
you burst into laughter, shaking your head at their antics when one of the twins, filled with exhilaration — drooled everywhere. rin’s instincts kicked in, and he swiftly grabbed a soft fabric to wipe her mouth.
completely unprompted, his daughter suddenly said “da–da!” catching him off guard.
rin was too stunned—speechless—shocked to witness this. he couldn’t believe that all those nights spent coaxing his daughter into saying ‘dada’ had finally paid off! he smiles, just barely.
but as he leaned down, the other twin looked up at him, her bright eyes locking onto his. “sae!” she started, but it came out as “sa-yi!” rin’s expression instantly shifted, a moment of frustration flickered across his features. he wore an expression that said, “really?”.
you bit your lip to hold back a laugh, even as the moment's seriousness settled in. yet, the first twin, feeling her sister’s energy, she promptly copied in. “dada!” she exclaimed with surprising clarity, her voice ringing out like the delicate tinkle of a small xylophone in the warm room.
rin’s mood lightened up, resembling a girl dealing with recurring cramps, the previous disappointment melting away as a smile cracked his indifferent exterior. “now we’re talking,” he said, the joy evident in his voice.
you erupted in joy ៸៸ bouncing in your seat. “rin, this is huge! you’re officially ‘dada’ now!”
the first twin, buoyed by excitement, looked up from her bus, proudly stating a small, “hooray!” as if she were applauding her sister’s achievement. rin’s lips curled into a genuine smile, the embrace of pride filling him as he wiped off the drool with affectionate care.
“seems i’m outmatched here,” he remarked, shaking his head in disbelief ៸៸ but warmth shone through his voice.
“guess you’ll have to get used to it,” you replied playfully, unable to hide your smile as you soaked in the moment.
rin’s stoicism softened as he embraced the joy of fatherhood ៸៸ realizing that being called “dada” — was just the beginning of this incredible journey.

sae had never entertained the idea of fatherhood— soccer was his only passion. raised in spain, he didn’t quite grasp why he felt so different from his life in japan. it was as if he were living in an unseen cage. the unrelenting pressure to succeed and excel entirely consumed him, eclipsing any thoughts of family or an alternative lifestyle.
however, that changes when his daughter, a shining light in his world, forced him to question everything he once thought was true. every coo and giggle tugged at his heartstrings, dismantling the stoic front he had upheld for years.
the morning sun filtered through the curtains as you slipped out of the house, a gentle kiss on your daughter's forehead and your husband’s before you headed to work. sae looked at you leave, his heart weighed down but hopeful, realizing he had a rare opportunity to spend the day at home with his little girl. “make sure you encourage her to say ‘papa’ today!” you teased lightly ៸៸ knowing how much he yearned to hear that first word.
ever since he returned from italy (his latest match), having left his girls alone, he had taken a hiatus from soccer. he had spent so long chasing goals on the field. but now, the most key one was right there before him, and today, he was determined to coax his daughter into saying : “dada”.
once you left, sae found himself alone with your both’s daughter, a bundle of curious and inquisitiveness. despite his normal indifference, a gentle thrill bubbled up inside him. sitting on the ground, he observed her playing with her colorful blocks ៸៸ her little fingers adeptly arranging them. he felt a wave of affection as she concentrated, her brow furrowing in a way that reflected his own focus. “say ‘dada,’ dulce niña,” he said softly as he leaned in closer.
she glanced upward, her eyes filled with wonder. she responded with a sweet babble that made sae chuckle. “goo-goo, ba-da!” she exclaimed, her small voice brimming with energy. though he couldn’t fully comprehend her ៸៸ the sound brought him immense joy.
sae sighed with fatigue, sensing a mix of determination and the load of expectations. “ya sabes hablar eso (you already know how to speak that). but let’s try for ‘papa’ instead,” he urged, attempting to hide his mounting impatience. needing a moment to rejuvenate ៸៸ the comforting scent wafted through the air as he brewed it, providing a welcome relief. moments later, he returned to his daughter, cup of tea in hand, and watched her enjoy playing with her colourful blocks toy, making tapping sounds. as he encouraged her again to say "papa," he did so without any hopes or expectations, merely aiming to bask in the moment.
“papa… can you say it for me?” he urged softly, leaning closer. but in his enthusiasm, he accidentally sent the cup tumbling to the floor ៸៸ the porcelain splintering with a sudden crack that reverberated in the air.
he blinked in shock, momentarily pulled away from his goal as he took in the mess. “of course… i’d break a cup while attempting to teach you to speak,” he murmured, feeling a mix of humor and frustration stir within him. yet, he couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of the moment.
his daughter erupted in giggles at the sound, and he couldn’t maintain his irritation. when he looked back at her, a refreshed sense of patience enveloped him. she grinned up at him ៸៸ her small face glowing with pure innocence and delight.
then, as if the universe was validating his dedication, she looked him in the eye and joyfully said, “papa!
sae’s heart leaped with joy. in that instant, he felt an array of emotions, a profound connection emerging between them. little did he know that, after the rain ៸៸ there would always be a rainbow, and he realized that his daughter held the key to a cage of his confined world that he had never known was there.
later, he opted to celebrate by attempting to bake cookies with her, recalling the delightful times you spent together in the kitchen. however, the experience quickly spiraled into playful chaos — flour flying everywhere ៸៸ giggles echoing ៸៸ and several cookies burnt in the oven. you discovered yourself smiling wide after got back home, despite your fatigue, at the kitchen turned chaotic, while your two worlds erupted in laughter.

the clock in the grand hall of kaiser’s mansion ticked softly, a notable difference against the vibrant festivities echoing from the ballroom. bastards münchen had just triumphed over viper fc in an enthralling match, and the air shimmered with anticipation as players and staff reveled in their triumph, savoring exquisite drinks and laughter. still, for michael kaiser, the jubilant cries felt far removed, echoing without meaning.
“alexis, bring my daughter to me,” kaiser instructed his key partner, his tone leaving no room for debate. the last thing he wanted was rather be with her than consume another minute idly with this bunch of idiots commemorating with the fervor of they’ve won the world cup.
“but it’s a big win, michael! you should be—”
“i said, bring her,” he interrupted, his eyes narrowing slightly. alexis gave a brisk nod, sensing the determination in his voice and went to find the little girl who represented his everything.
as kaiser stepped aside, he walked through the lavish passage of his residence, and family portraits from his youth.
shortly thereafter, his daughter was held in his embrace, her small figure pressed against him. just before she turn one, she hadn’t yet spoken her first word—a milestone that weighed on kaiser’s heart. as he cradled her securely on his arm, he softly said, “while everyone else is celebrating the team's success, you are my genuine reward.”
his daughter met his gaze with a small giggle, evoking a shared fit of giggles from kaiser.
as he strolled through the corridor deeper adorned with large frames of cherished moments that each capturing you both memorial day back in good old day, their warmth embraced him like a gentle cocoon, yet they starkly reminded him of your absence. his daughter observed you with her big, round eyes, curiosity stirring within her like, ‘who is this?’ even at the tender age of ten months.
he carried his daughter to the bedside, where your massive frame in a picture frame smiled back at him, reminding him of all the beautiful moments you shared. the picture stood as a melancholy reminder of lost opportunities, tightening kaiser’s chest at the thought of raising her on his own.
he drew her nearer to one of the portraits, showcasing your beaming happiness moments before childbirth. “see how liebenswert (endearing) your mama was?” he said gently, a tender smile lighting up his face. “she was so excited to meet you, mein kleiner engel (my little angel). she would have treasured each moment of watching you grow.” he tenderly stroked her hair, a shade reminiscent of yours.
“if only your mama were here,” he said, kneeling slightly to bring her closer to the picture. “she would’ve spoiled you countless times in a day. kannst du dir das vorstellen? (can you imagine that?) she was wonderfully amiable and considerate, always aware of how to uplift my mood with her humor.” he felt a lump form in his throat as he spoke, the weight of your absence hitting him anew.
his eyes had ceased to shed tears when reminiscing about you, having promised himself to move beyond one of seine liebe (his love) in his world.
he glanced down at his daughter, who was serenely unmindful of her surroundings beyond her cute little bubbles. “but we’re going to make some memories too, okay? your first word… let’s make it ‘mama’.” he coaxed, his voice softening as he looked into her innocent eyes.
his daughter turned her gaze upward, her bright eyes glistening with naivety. she held a cuddly teddy bear that you bought for her and waved it excitedly. “gooo!” she exclaimed, her little face pinched in determination. kaiser felt a rush of affection as she joyfully babbled.
kaiser chuckled lightly, the sound brought warmth to his heart, yet he couldn’t ignore the ache of disappointment. “not quite, schatz. let’s try for ‘mama’ today, okay?” he teased playfully, supporting her with all the warmth he could express.
“mama,” he repeated, hoping his persistence would ignite something in her. “come on, mein kleiner engel. nur einmal. mama.”
she giggles. for a brief interval, kaiser found himself momentarily unaware of the profound void created by your absence.
he secured her with his arm, bringing her closer, and began to sway gently as if to instill the rhythm of the word within her. her little brows furrowed in concentration as she imitated his mouth movements, trying to form the sounds. “ma-ma!” she jubilantly squealed, clapping her hands together.
kaiser inched closer, anticipation bubbling in his chest. his eyes lit up with a joy he believed he had lost for good. “yes, that’s it! again, say ‘mama’!”
as she giggled, her light voice echoed with cheerful babble. “ma-ma, ma-ma!” she finally exclaimed, the sound was pure melody to his ears. a rush of bliss swept over him as he lifted her high above, a beaming smile on his face.
“you did it! you said it!” he cheered, whirling her around in his wide embrace that was meant for her before the Almighty brought the world into existence, their laughter resonated in the room. the moment seemed ethereal, as though time had frozen exclusively just for them.
“mama!” she repeated, her happiness spreading like wildfire, and in that moment, kaiser could nearly hear your laughter ringing out, celebrating with them. he lowered her gently, wrapping her in his arms, overcome with emotion.
even though you may not hear them while in a better realm, he hopes you know that your both little treasure is making him the happiest father in existence, as he should — just as you wished before moving on to a more glorious life.
